This class action lawsuit alleges that Defendant MidFirst Bank, doing business as Midland Mortgage, and its affiliate, Firstinsure, Inc., improperly profited from the force-placement of hazard insurance.

Countrywide Home Loans and Bank of America Mortgage Loan Class Action Settlement

The lawsuit alleges that Capital One’s policies and practices relating to certain interest and minimum payment charges after a credit card customer uses a 0% Access Check or No Hassle Check are deceptive, constitute a breach of contract, and violate the Truth in Lending Act, including the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009. 

Northwest Savings Bank Overdraft Class Action Settlement

The lawsuit claims that Northwest Savings Bank posted debit card transactions in the order of highest to lowest dollar amount (known as High-to-Low Posting), which results in an increased number of overdraft fees assessed to customers.

M&T Bank Illegal Overdraft Fee Class Action Settlement

The lawsuit claims that M&T Bank posted Debit Card Transactions in the order of highest to lowest dollar amount, which the lawsuit argues results in an increased number of Overdraft Fees assessed to customers.

Chase and Bank One Circuit City Reward Class Action Settlement

The lawsuit alleges that Chase improperly allocated payments or credits to regular purchase balances on Circuit City Rewards Credit Cards after promotional or deferred
interest balances and that, as a result, cardholders paid excessive finance charges.

Capital One Undisclosed Call Recording Class Action Settlement

The lawsuit claims that telephone calls made by representatives of Capital One regarding credit card accounts were recorded or monitored without providing verbal notice at the beginning of the calls that the calls may be recorded or monitored. Capital One has denied and continues to deny any liability, and there has been no finding that Capital One has violated any laws.

Higher One OneAccount Illegal Fees Class Action Settlement

A $15 million proposed settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit against Higher One Holdings, Inc., Higher One, Inc., The Bancorp Bank, Wright Express Financial Services Corporation now known as WEX Bank, and Taylor Capital Group, Inc. regarding the Fees charged and the marketing of the Higher One OneAccount. 

Michigan Finance Authority Student Loan Class Action Settlement

The lawsuit alleged that the MFA illegally terminated the MSF program in 2010. Under the MSF program, the MFA reduced student loan interest rates to zero percent (0%) after the borrower completed making 36 on-time monthly payments. The lawsuit alleged that borrowers were forced to pay higher interest rates as a result of the MFA’s termination of the MSF program.

Wells Fargo

Roger A. Meyman and Kari L. Pickering have filed a class action lawsuit against Wells Fargo Bank, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, LLC, and Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, Inc, claiming Wells Fargo improperly charged the plaintiffs for certain attorney fees related to personal bankruptcy proceedings.

The suit seeks to represent all persons in Minnesota who took out a mortgage loan with Wells Fargo Bank and were charged attorney fees without being first asked to repay the balance of the loan in full.

The suit accuses Wells Fargo bank of Unjust Enrichment and breach of contract.
